TEHRAN -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Hamid-Reza Asefi announced on Sunday that the Sudanese President Omar Hassan al-Bashir is scheduled to arrive in Tehran on Monday.

In his talks with Iranian President Mahmud Ahmadinejad, the Sudanese leader is expected to discuss developing relations between Tehran and Khartoum. Omar al-Bashir is accompanied by a high-ranking economic and political delegation.

The Sudanese president also plans to meet the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei and the Chairman of the Expediency Council Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani, the spokesman said.

Quoting experts the Qatari daily Al-Watan reported on Sunday that during his meeting with President Ahmadinejad, al-Bashir will also discuss the U.S. and international pressure on Sudan on the ongoing conflict in Darfur.
